Who is Rachel Clare?

Dressmaker, hairstylist, mum, and soon-to-be grandma, Rachel Clare, asked the daughter of a friend with a young child; "What was your most useful present?", and in reply she showed her the baby car blanket she'd been gifted. "It's terrific" she said, "I know that may baby is warm when the weather or the air-conditioning is chilly, and because I take the baby seat out of the car, the blanket comes with me, so there's no worries about it falling off. The other thing is, it's just so quick and easy - it's terrific".

Rachel Clare was intrigued, so she set about making a version herself, for her first grandson due in just a few months. Being an accomplished seamstress already, having a flair for creativity, and a background in management with the UK's largest baby-goods retailer, this was an exciting project. She only intended making one or two for her own family, but as each of her friends saw the designs and the high quality of the handmade blankets she created, they wanted one too. Soon, so did their friends and ...well, the rest as they, is history.

What was the most useful present you received as a new mum?

Now, Cozibaby baby blankets are commercially available, but are still hand made by Rachel Clare, and are still something she loves making; "Each blanket has its own story, the patterns and fleeces go together like they were meant to be, and I can imagine the baby all wrapped up, snugly and warm even as I'm still making it".
